Found this gem hidden inside a suburban neighborhood. Cool bit of history and nice walking trail. Need to come back again when museum is open due to limited hours.
A nice rustic introduction to oil history of the past and present. The trail is fairly easy to walk. Informational signs are a bit worn by the Sun but the flowers are nice along the trail and it was an easy place to get to
A short and uphill hike
No shade
Bring pants and long-sleeve
Be aware of wildlife as there are a lot of rattlesnake holes along the hike.
This is a very nice little outdoor museum with some machinery, and an old oil rig, as well as a truck, the all relate to the oil history of the area. Attached to it is a trail that takes you about 2 miles on a loop through the hills. It has very nice views on the top.
Nice and quiet walk and very clean trail. Lots of old machines and a museum open 2 days a week but trails are always open and plenty of parking. Maps available and dogs allowed! š
I really enjoyed exploring this area. My friend and I did the hiking trail and I would rate it as easy. Every pit stop there was a history about the oil industry and I like how we got to see different styles of oil machinery. The trail goes as a loop. There's no shade so I would recommend to arrive early. In the end we enjoyed learning and admiring the outdoor museum. It was a fun and cute place to learn Brea's oil industry and farming.
Small, but interesting place
We couldnāt enter inside, but outdoor there are old oil equipment and still functioning wells.
Trail takes about an hour to walk - nice views, lots of flowers, we spotted bugs, birds and even a rabbit.
Really cool small outdoor museum with a working pump and a few more tools and vehicles displayed. Surrounded by approx 2 mile trail makes it an hour or more fun time in a very peaceful neighbourhood.
A Regional park is also located nearby, so you can expand your hike a bit more if you like.
